Leave It Standing is a document of a search for traces. Images that focus on absence tell stories of people without making them visible themselves. Still-life arrangements mysteriously provide clues—insights into stories that are not fully told. They reveal the remnants of those who have already left a scene, lending significance to what seems trivial.
The photographs depict personal everyday objects in a formally restrained manner. Items that, although produced through industrial mass manufacturing, acquire meaning through their use and take on an almost intimate character. A simple toothbrush, an ordinary plastic bag, a piece of paper towel—each can hold a value that far exceeds its practical utility. They can become testimonies of highly individual lifes, shape the image of a home, a sense of belonging, and provide insight into someone else's live.
